The Hard-Sided Pet Crate is a rigid travel carrier in PP plastic and iron, 46 cm long by 24 wide by 29 tall, with a barred door and ventilation openings around the shell. It assembles with screws and holds its shape under load, which is the reason to choose hard-sided and also its trade-off: it does not fold flat, so plan where it lives between trips. Thread a seatbelt through the handle before you drive. An unsecured crate becomes a projectile under braking, and that is true of every crate rather than this one in particular.

Rigid, on purpose

A screwed shell keeps its shape under load instead of folding inward on the animal, which is the whole reason to pick hard-sided over soft.

Barred door, vented sides

The door bars and the openings around the shell keep air moving and let the animal see out, which most of them travel better for.

Belt it in

The handle takes a seatbelt, so the crate stays on the seat under braking instead of sliding into a footwell.

Will my pet fit?

Measure your animal from nose to the base of the tail, and from the floor to the shoulder while they are standing, then check both against the 46 x 24 x 29 cm shell. They should be able to stand up and turn around inside it.

How do I secure it in the car?

Thread the seatbelt through the handle and buckle it. A belt laid over the top of a crate is decoration; it has to pass through something structural.

Does it fold down for storage?

No. It is a rigid screwed shell, so it keeps its full size between trips. That is the trade for a crate that holds its shape.

Is this vehicle-specific?

No, deliberately. Vehicle-specific fitment is the single biggest source of returns in car accessories, so everything here mounts with straps or seatbelts and fits any car.

Will my animal actually use the carrier?

Only if you leave it out open for two weeks before the trip and feed a meal a day inside it. A carrier that appears on travel day is a trap. Our checklist walks through it.
